China Union Pay（銀聯）
「China Union Pay （銀聯）」とは中国発のペイメント・ブランドです。
「China Union Pay Co. Ltd」は中国統一ペイメントネットーワークを目的とし、2002年3月、中国の中央銀行である中国人民銀行の主導のもと設立されました。
そして、2003年までに国内の銀行カード全てに「銀聯」マークを付けることを義務付けました。
これにより、それまで個々の銀行が加盟店と直接取引していたのが、「China Union Pay」経由の取引に統一された訳です。
「China Union Pay」は、2002年にはVISA・MASTER、2003年にはJCBと、国際ブランドと積極的に提携。
2004年5月の香港での利用開始を皮切りに、マカオ、韓国、シンガポール、タイと続き、日本国内においても、2005年12月、三井住友カードと提携。三井住友カードの加盟店で銀聯カード利用が開始されました。さらに米国・欧州各国中心に拡大し、現在利用可能国は25カ国に及んでおります。
現状では、「China Union Pay」は言わばデビットカードであり、また、国際ブランドを併せて掲示している単なる国内統一ブランドに過ぎません。しかし、着々とクレジットカードブランドとしての基盤を固めつつあります。
単一経済圏人口推定15億、海外に散っている華僑・華人人口は約5,000万人。
そして、「BRICS」の中でも群を抜く経済成長。
今後の動向次第では、「銀聯」マークのみのクレジットカードが、中国国内のみならず、世界に、羽ばたく可能性も無きにしもあらずと言えるでしょう。
